College Football 25 is having a big moment on consoles, but like usual, EA decided PC gamers are an afterthought-
Something cool happened in the world of American sports this year: the NCAA, the organization that puts on college sports at the highest level and rakes in over a billion dollars a year doing it, settled on a deal that allows college athletes to be paid for their services—something that should’ve been happening all along. The deal is a huge win for student-athletes who previously destroyed their bodies for free, but it’s also a big deal for publisher EA, as it means it can finally go back to making college football games.
EA’s first college football game in over a decade, now simply called EA Sports College Football 25, is already one of the biggest games of the year. During CF25’s early access period last week, which you could only get into by pre-ordering the $100 edition of the game, players noticed that over 600,000 people were online at once. Before it was even officially out, College Football 25 was putting up Helldivers 2 and Baldur’s Gate 3 numbers.

Just one person showed up to buy an RTX 4060 Ti for its late night Akihabara launch-
Last night in Japan’s popular Akihabara shopping district, two stores opened especially late for the RTX 4060 Ti graphics card release. But rather than being inundated with customers all climbing over each other to grab Nvidia’s latest 40-series offering, the stores were met with just one humble customer.
Not one customer per store, one altogether.
Across the whole of Taito City, just one person physically came into Dospara Akihabara Main Store to make their purchase in the evening. Japanese news outlet Hermitage Akihabara posted a photo on its Twitter account about the singular purchase made, and just look how nonchalantly the picture shows this person waiting for their RTX 4060 Ti to be packed up, hands in pockets (via Videocardz).
It’s a stark contrast to the scenes from Nvidia’s previous launches, such as the RTX 3080 Ti or RTX 3060 Ti launch back in 2020. The scramble we witnessed over the whole of the 30-series was so great we were out here doing live u…

Our favorite spy-themed extraction shooter is having a free weekend to launch its second season-
We like the spy-themed extraction shooter Deceive Inc quite a lot. We called it “a creative blend of sneaking and shooting” in our 82% review, and it earned a spot in our list of eight overlooked games that you might have missed in 2023. That’s a solid and well-deserved recommendation, but not really good news because it means a lot of folks are missing out on one of the more interesting gaming experiences of the year.
This coming weekend will be a good opportunity to address that problem, because Deceive Inc will be completely free to play from July 27-30 on both PC and consoles.
Along with hopefully boosting player numbers, the free weekend celebrates the release of the big Neon Nights update that kicks off Deceive Inc’s second season. The update includes a new agent named Sasori, who gave up his life as the world’s most infamous assassin so he could open a quiet little restaurant in Osaka. As is the way with these things, he’s eventually forced to return to the busine…

Star Wars Outlaws’ $40 season pass comes with 2 story packs, including a run-in with Lando Calrissian later this year-
Star Wars Outlaws isn’t out yet, but you can already buy extra Star Wars Outlaws. As usual for the publisher, Ubisoft is selling a season pass for its big open world Star Wars adventure that promises to dole out more story over the next six months or so.
One of these extra stories has already stirred a bit of controversy: the “Jabba’s Gambit exclusive mission” caused a stir when websites came under the impression that the famed galactic gangster would be stuck behind an extra paywall, but Ubi clarified that Jabba is one of the four syndicate leaders of the base game and will be featured extensively in the main story. False alarm, but still a bummer to have day one content locked behind an extra buy.
Today’s new info is what exactly those other two story packs will entail. First up is “Wild Card” (Fall 2024), where Kay Vess is hired to “infiltrate a high-stakes Sabacc tournament, but as she crosses paths with the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, she soon learn…
One of our favorite action RPGs of 2019 shows off 4 years of updates at Gamescom-
We liked the action-RPG Last Epoch an awful lot when we most recently looked at it, calling its skill system “a brilliant new twist” on those offered by Diablo and Path of Exile. But that was in 2019, and we haven’t heard anything from the game since—until tonight, when Judd Cobler, founder and CEO of developer Eleventh Hour Games, appeared on the stage at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live to show off its upcoming Runes of Power update and the powerful new Runemaster mage class.
Eleventh Hour was founded by members of the /gamedev subreddit in 2017, with the singular goal of developing “the perfect ARPG.” After a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2018, Last Epoch went live in early access on Steam, slowly evolving its systems based on player feedback and becoming a low-key ARPG hit in the process.
“From the beginning, we wanted to create a different kind of studio that actually involved the player base in fundamental design decisions,” Cobler said. “It’s fair to say t…
